Iris MayPERRYIt is with great sadness that the family of Iris announce her passing in the early hours of Wednesday15th of June 2022, aged 90. Iris passed away at the home she and husband Pete built and where they brought up sons Pip, Rob and Andy. She will be sadly missed by us all, not least by Chick, Becky, Jo and grandchildren Harvey, Morgan and Sarah. She loved their home at Randwick, especially her garden and maintained that she would end her days there. She did and with Pete by her side. Fiercely independent, Iris (to the end) was driving regularly, tending her garden and feeding the wildlife which was often her last act before bedtime prayers. She was an amazing, determined lady with a lot of love to give. Iris' wishes were for no funeral ceremony and "no fuss". She couldn't bear the thought of her loved ones attending her funeral; she was always so upset by funerals herself. Her wishes will be honoured and her committal will be at 9:40 at Gloucester Crematorium on the 29th of June with just flowers from her garden, prayers and a blessing provided by a local retired minister. Iris was well known in the village where she chaired the gardening club for many years and regularly helped with the flowers at the church. She also kept in touch with those further afield. She was extremely popular with family and friends alike, everyone loved her. The family realise that there are many who would have attended a funeral service had there been one. Instead we invite you to plant a plant or provide some food for wildlife and celebrate Iris while you do so; she would have loved that the fauna and flora would benefit from her passing.
